Did I ever mention a time or 25 that YSL’s wedding dresses Rouge Volupte lipsticks are my tip of the top, cream of the crop favourites? Aaah jess love’em, ladies. Beee-you-tiful packaging, creamy, lush textures and a stellar shade line-up are what makes these stand out for me. Ok, longevity isn’t the best now to be 100% honest, but hey, I’m not a person who’s outraged by re-application and I can live with that based on all the pros these lipsticks have.Above you can see two newbies which are part of the spring collection, so yes, they’re on counter right this very second. Left is Peche Faubourg and on the right is Brun Beaubourg. Now, the latter is a shade I’d describe as ‘gick’, but the dreamy creamy peachy coral of Peche juicy couture Faubourg is a delight. It looks Neapolitan ice cream-tastic when shot with its beige counterpart, so I thought I’d show you both.This 60s-shaded superstar is a very retro shade: quite a bit of white seems to be in the mix there, and if you’re terrified of deep corals, then this is an apricot-y peach shade that will look killer with a bit of a tan.
Here’s what’s on offer for Christmas from one of my fave brands, Yves Saint Laurent. Their stuff is always great – frivolous sometimes, for sure, but always luxurious and gorgeous to use. As YSL has been sold to L’Oreal, us Irish beauty-writing peeps are in a bit of a transition MBT Shoesperiod so while I can’t tell you what the products are like as I haven’t gotten a go of them, I can show you pix and tell you about them.There’s lots of nice goodies in the collection and the suggested look is strong and bold, so it’s just as well there are two red lip products on offer, eh? A quirkly-designed palette is generally a feature of a YSL collection also, and this year there are two of those dinky little fellers on the left rolling out – above you can see the eye variation; there’s also a silvered compact for eyes.
More of a new faithful really, as YSL’s Rouge Volupte Christian Louboutinonly landed in the last year, I don’t know if my vocab is hyperbole-filled enough to laud this lip-smackingly good lipstick range.Volupte is as volupte does: as the name suggests, the product provides full, creamy coverage that’s super-cushiony to wear. It looks gorgeous, and it makes you feel FAHHHbulous.And oh dear sweet fancy moses, the packaging. Ladies, it is a thing of OTT joy and wonder: sleek gold with curlicued embellishments, a little mirror on the top of the tube, and a superslim, angled lipstick bullet – truly, I am in product heaven.Colours are fashion-forward and edgy as well as subdued and wearable, so I jerseys reserve shocking shades like Orange Shiver and Extreme Coral for night, slicking on the very pretty Fetish Pink for day. I regularly carry around about three of these babies in my bag (much to airport officials’ annoyance), ready for all occasions
